![]() Kathryn’s desire for the cottage seemed like a candle compared to the sun of her attraction to Griffith. My one wish is that the reasons had been stronger, at least at the start of the book. Kathryn and Griffith are an enticing couple, the classic pair that can’t stay away from each other despite having every reason in the world to do just that. I was introduced to Lorraine Heath through her A Sin for All Seasons series, and this new series, Once Upon a Dukedom, is a delightful spinoff. ![]() Caught between two desires, Kathryn must decide which is more important to her: her inheritance or her passions. Once he is cast from polite society, she has no reason at all not to marry the Duke of Kingsland.Įxcept for the fact that Griffith is still in London, and Kathryn still feels the pull that began shortly before meeting the duke. Unfortunately, the man she has obvious chemistry with, her old friend (and former annoyance) Lord Griffith Stanwick, is a second son… and the son of a convicted traitor. ![]() ![]() In order to inherit her grandmother’s cottage by the sea, Lady Kathryn Lambert must marry a titled gentleman. ![]()

I thought by that point in the story, Evie’s reaction was too cold-blooded. ![]() I also really didn’t like Evie’s consideration of returning to her former life. I liked this book, however, while I completely accepted Adam’s conversion, the reaction of the others in the town was just too simplistic. Adam learns more about love and acceptance than he could have imagined. Evie is tough and yet has a soft heart that she has hidden. I liked the main characters in this book. Raised in poverty, she rose to great heights as an actress and a courtesan. Adam comes to accept her choices as well. Evie Duggans reputation among the ton is legendary. Evie does not regret her choices because she believes she made the best choice she could considering her circumstances. These are interesting character and the book does a great job of exploring sin and repentance, acceptance of one’s choices even if they are frowned upon by others, and loving one’s neighbor. But Ray Porter gives a new dimension of the entire story with the way he narrated the characters. The novel is already an engaging one with the way Dennis Taylor tells the story. His changing speech, tempo, and enactment for each character is spot on. He draws the attention of the listener with the prefect representation of the characters. The narrator Ray Porter has presented the character in an exquisite manner. Overall, this book is a masterpiece of science fiction. But this second book in the Bobiverse Series is as entertaining, if not more entertaining, than the first. In most books with sequels, the second is usually not as intense as the first. This is a true science fiction with good plot development and lots of suspense from beginning to the end. ![]() ![]() As someone who appreciates both plot and language, it’s rare to find a middle-grade book that nails both.
